Training and Professional Development
Bracknell Forest Safeguarding Board’s (BFSB) ‘Training and Professional Development Framework’ sets out the ‘all age’ approach adopted within our local safeguarding arrangements and emphasises the Board’s role in quality assuring arrangements and scrutinising the evaluation of the impact these are having. The framework requires that employers ensure their workforce develop the necessary skills and confidence to competently protect vulnerable people and act in accordance with the pan Berkshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Policy and Procedures for both children’s and adults.
Through the routine support of the Board’s Bracknell Forest Training and Development Forum partners are empowered to develop their training and professional development activities. In addition, the Board has made available standardised materials and facilitated safeguarding ‘training for trainers’ designed to ensure partners maintain high quality training and professional development arrangements.
In addition, partners are encouraged to collaborate in arrangements that share learning, promote best practice, facilitate awareness-raising and disseminate any changes to legislation, policies or procedures.
Specific multi-agency learning related to the findings of local case reviews supports awareness-raising in respect of the lessons learned and address areas of practice, as well as those relating to local systems. Through these events the Board will highlight good practice as well as any emerging issues, recurring risks and subsequent revisions made to multi-agency guidance and/or the Board’s strategic priorities.
While BFSB is not a provider of core safeguarding training, Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) does host events for people in day-to-day contact with children, families and vulnerable adults. These courses are designed to develop basic awareness of the local processes in place for safeguarding children and safeguarding adults (see end of page). BFC also offer targeted training events (level 2) that specifically focus on safeguarding children.
