Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP)
Last updated: 10/11/2020
Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) is at the heart of the work of those involved in safeguarding adults, and all safeguarding practice. It involves an outcome focussed, person centred approach to safeguarding adults. It arose following feedback from people who had used safeguarding services which suggested that people felt driven by a process and felt out of control. It is a personalised approach that enables safeguarding to be done with, not to, people.
The Local Government Association (LGA) has resources to support roles and responsibilities in keeping people safe and developing and promoting MSP.
